Handling practices aim to prevent moisture ingress and mechanical damage. Vials should remain stoppered and crimped until use, and reconstitution should follow the labeled diluent and volume. Shipping may involve temperature-controlled containers and desiccants, but direct contact between desiccant and product is avoided. Regulatory guidance expects documented storage conditions, excursion assessments, and stability commitments. Open questions remain about how best to predict long-term stability from short accelerated studies for every formulation class.
After lyophilization, the product is usually a porous cake or powder with a large internal surface area. This structure can absorb moisture quickly if exposed to humid air, so vials are sealed under vacuum or an inert gas. Moisture uptake may lower the glass transition temperature of the dried matrix and accelerate chemical or physical degradation. Storage conditions therefore depend on the formulation, container, and intended shelf life. Some products remain stable at room temperature, while others require refrigeration or freezing.
The physical chemistry of freezing influences whether a formulation forms an amorphous glass or a crystalline solid. Amorphous systems can collapse if product temperature rises above the glass transition temperature of the freeze concentrate. Crystalline systems may show eutectic melting, where ice and solute melt together at a fixed temperature. Formulators add bulking agents, lyoprotectants, and buffers to preserve structure and biological activity. The optimum cycle keeps product temperature below critical thresholds during primary drying while allowing efficient sublimation.
Lyophilization is a dehydration process that removes water from a frozen material by sublimation under low pressure. The material is first frozen so that water becomes ice; then the surrounding pressure is lowered below the vapor pressure of ice. Heat is applied gently so ice changes directly to vapor without passing through a bulk liquid phase. The vapor is collected on a cold condenser, leaving a dry porous matrix. This process differs from simple evaporation because the material remains frozen during the main drying stage.

Yonath was accepted to Tichon Hadash high school since her mother could not pay the tuition, she traded her time teaching math lessons to students, which helped pay for her schooling. At a young age, she said, she was inspired by the scientist Marie Curie. However, she stressed that Curie, whom she as a child was fascinated by after reading her biography, was not her "role model". She returned to Jerusalem for college, graduating from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1962, and a master's degree in biochemistry in 1964. In 1968, she obtained her PhD from the Weizmann Institute of Science for X-ray crystallographic studies on the structure of collagen, with Wolfie Traub as her PhD advisor. Yonath accepted postdoctoral positions at Carnegie Mellon University (1969) and MIT (1970). While a postdoctoral researcher at MIT she spent some time in the laboratory of subsequent 1976 chemistry Nobel Prize winner William N. Lipscomb, Jr. of Harvard University where she was inspired to pursue very large structures.
As a tracer for cobalt in chemical reactions Sterilization of medical equipment. Radiation source for medical radiotherapy; specifically cobalt therapy, which uses beams of gamma rays from 60Co teletherapy machines. Radiation source for industrial radiography. Radiation source for leveling devices and thickness gauges. Radiation source for pest insect sterilization. As a radiation source for food irradiation and blood irradiation. As a primary standard for radiation dosimetry calibration. Cobalt has been discussed as a "salting" element to add to nuclear weapons, to produce a cobalt bomb, an extremely "dirty" weapon which would contaminate large areas with 60Co nuclear fallout, rendering them uninhabitable for a decade or more (multiple half-lives of cobalt-60) due to the gamma radiation field. In one design, the tamper of the weapon would be made of 59Co (natural cobalt). When the bomb explodes, neutrons from the nuclear fission would irradiate the cobalt and transmute it to 60Co. No country is known to have done any serious development of this type of weapon.
Summarising their findings, they conclude: "The medical notes indicate that, on admission, Dylan's bronchial disease was found to be very extensive, affecting upper, mid and lower lung fields, both left and right." The forensic pathologist, Bernard Knight, who examined the post-mortem report, concurs: "death was clearly due to a severe lung infection with extensive advanced bronchopneumonia...the severity of the chest infection, with greyish consolidated areas of well-established pneumonia, suggests that it had started before admission to hospital." Thomas died at noon on 9 November 1953, having never recovered from his coma. A nurse, and the poet John Berryman, were present with him at the time of death.
Rima Kallingal (born 18 January 1984) is an Indian actress, dancer, and film producer who primarily works in Malayalam cinema. Trained in dance from a young age, she participated in reality television before placing first runner-up in the Miss Kerala 2008 pageant, which led to her film debut in Ritu (2009). Her performance in 22 Female Kottayam (2012) earned her the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress and the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Malayalam. She is a co-founder of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), an organisation formed in 2017 to advocate for gender equity and safe working conditions in the Malayalam film industry.

== Prognosis == An elevation in serum bilirubin level of more than 2 times ULN with associated transaminase rise indicates severe hepatotoxicity and is likely to lead to mortality in 10% to 15% of patients, especially if the offending drug is not stopped (Hy's Law). This is because it requires significant damage to the liver to impair bilirubin excretion, hence minor impairment (in the absence of biliary obstruction or Gilbert syndrome) would not lead to jaundice. Other poor predictors of outcome are old age, female sex, high AST.
=== Evolution === Genomic tRNA content is a differentiating feature of genomes among biological domains of life: Archaea present the simplest situation in terms of genomic tRNA content with a uniform number of gene copies, Bacteria have an intermediate situation and Eukarya present the most complex situation. Eukarya present not only more tRNA gene content than the other two kingdoms but also a high variation in gene copy number among different isoacceptors, and this complexity seem to be due to duplications of tRNA genes and changes in anticodon specificity. Evolution of the tRNA gene copy number across different species has been linked to the appearance of specific tRNA modification enzymes (uridine methyltransferases in Bacteria, and adenosine deaminases in Eukarya), which increase the decoding capacity of a given tRNA. As an example, tRNAAla encodes four different tRNA isoacceptors (AGC, UGC, GGC and CGC). In Eukarya, AGC isoacceptors are extremely enriched in gene copy number in comparison to the rest of isoacceptors, and this has been correlated with its A-to-I modification of its wobble base. This same trend has been shown for most amino acids of eukaryal species. Indeed, the effect of these two tRNA modifications is also seen in codon usage bias. Highly expressed genes seem to be enriched in codons that are exclusively using codons that will be decoded by these modified tRNAs, which suggests a possible role of these codons—and consequently of these tRNA modifications—in translation efficiency. Many species have lost specific tRNAs during evolution.
=== Second term (2020–2021) === Talarico defeated former Hutto city council member Lucio Valdez with 51.5% of the vote. In the 87th Texas Legislature, he was reappointed to the Public Education and Juvenile Justice Committees and appointed to the Calendars Committee. During the 87th legislative session, Talarico filed HB 54, also known as Javier Ambler's Law, and the legislature passed it. It prohibits state law enforcement agencies, except game wardens, from entering into contracts with reality TV shows that film them in the line of duty. This was in response to the role Live PD is alleged to have played in the killing of Javier Ambler by Williamson County, Texas, police. Talarico had previously criticized Sheriff Robert Chody's handling of the incident, calling for his resignation. Talarico was the primary author of HB 30, which provides a path for minors in the criminal justice system who have been adjudicated as adults or who are eligible under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act to earn a high school diploma instead of pursuing a high school equivalency. In 2018, Talarico was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes during a five-day stint in the ICU after a campaign event where he walked 25 miles (40 km) across his district. After his diagnosis, he paid $684 for his first 30-day supply of insulin. Talarico later helped pass House Bill 82, capping insulin costs at $25 per month.
=== Cancer-related === Translationally controlled tumor protein has a role in tumor reversion and development. TCTP is a regulator of the cancer stem cell compartment, the tumor reversion, tumor progression and certain forms of inflammatory diseases. Moreover, TCTP was described as a pro-survival protein antagonizing BAX function.
=== As larvae === In studies, T. molitor larvae show an incubation period of seven to eight days and a period of three to four days for the first instar. After the first instar, there is significant variation for the number of days in each instar period, though variation may be due to malnutrition or pathogens. Before emergence, most larvae typically go through 15 to 17 instars, with very few larvae going through the 19 to 20 instars. The body length of the larvae gradually increases with each successive instar, reaching maximum length at the 17th instar. The body length decreases beyond the 17th instar. Pupation occurs after the 14th instar, with most larvae showing total pupation between the 15th and 17th instars. Larvae are white in the first instar and gradually turn brown after the second instar.

Collapse occurs when the product temperature rises above its collapse or eutectic temperature during drying. The frozen matrix loses structure, producing a shrunken or melted appearance. This can slow reconstitution and may affect stability.
Karl Fischer titration is a common method, along with loss on drying and thermogravimetric analysis. Each method has different sensitivity and sample requirements. Results should be interpreted with the product's formulation and container in mind.
No. Lyophilization removes water but is not a sterilization step. Sterile products are typically filtered and filled aseptically before freezing, and container closure integrity is maintained afterward.
The main change is sublimation, in which ice becomes water vapor without melting into liquid water. This occurs when the chamber pressure is held below the vapor pressure of ice while mild heat is supplied. The result is a dry, porous solid that retains much of its original shape.
